The Vantec NexStar SX NST-205C3-SG is a compact tool-free enclosure designed to convert a compatible M-Key M.2 NVMe SSD into portable USB-C storage. Tool-Free NVMe Storage

The NST-205C3-SG is designed for quick installation and replacement of compatible M.2 NVMe drives. Its revised tool-free enclosure supports 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 modules, making it suitable for a wide range of M-Key NVMe SSDs. Vantec confirms support for capacities up to 4TB.

Write-Protect Function

A built-in hardware switch allows the installed SSD to be presented to the operating system in read-only mode. This can help protect important files against accidental modification or unwanted OS-level write access. The switch should be set before connecting the enclosure to USB; the LED shows red in read-only mode and white in normal read/write mode.

Aluminium Heatsink Design

The enclosure is manufactured from anodised aluminium and incorporates a heatsink design to help transfer heat away from the installed NVMe SSD. A heat-transfer plate and thermal pad are supplied to improve contact between the SSD and enclosure during operation.
