The Synology DiskStation DS923+ is a scalable 4-bay desktop NAS enclosure designed for small businesses, home offices and advanced home storage environments. Powered by an AMD Ryzen R1600 dual-core processor and 4GB of ECC DDR4 memory, it provides a flexible platform for centralised file storage, backup, synchronization, collaboration, virtualization and surveillance. Four hot-swappable SATA drive bays, two M.2 NVMe slots, dual Gigabit Ethernet and optional 10GbE networking allow the DS923+ to adapt as storage capacity and performance requirements grow.

AMD Ryzen Processing

The DS923+ is powered by an AMD Ryzen R1600 64-bit processor featuring two CPU cores and four processing threads. Operating at 2.6GHz with a maximum turbo frequency of 3.1GHz, the processor provides the performance required for multi-user file services, backup, synchronization and other NAS workloads. A hardware encryption engine helps accelerate encrypted data operations.

Expandable ECC Memory

4GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory is installed as standard. Two memory slots support expansion up to 32GB using compatible modules, allowing the system to accommodate more demanding applications and concurrent workloads. ECC technology can automatically detect and correct certain memory errors to improve data integrity.

Flexible Four-Bay Storage

Four hot-swappable drive bays support compatible 3.5-inch SATA HDDs and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. The system is supplied without storage drives, allowing capacity and drive configuration to be selected according to individual requirements.

Dual M.2 NVMe Slots

Two built-in M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots provide additional storage-performance options without occupying the primary SATA drive bays. Compatible NVMe SSDs can be used for caching or supported SSD storage pools, depending on the installed drives and Synology configuration.

Optional 10GbE Networking

Two integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports provide straightforward connectivity to existing networks and can be combined using Link Aggregation for load balancing and network failover. For bandwidth-intensive environments, the dedicated network upgrade slot supports the optional Synology E10G22-T1-Mini 10GbE RJ-45 module.

Expandable to Nine Drives

Storage capacity can be expanded beyond the four internal drive bays by connecting one optional Synology DX517 expansion unit through the dedicated eSATA expansion port. This increases the system to a maximum of nine SATA drive bays.

Synology DiskStation Manager

Synology DiskStation Manager provides an integrated platform for file management, synchronization, backup, collaboration and surveillance. Applications such as Synology Drive, Hyper Backup, Active Backup Suite, Snapshot Replication and Synology Photos enable the DS923+ to serve as a centralised private-cloud and data-protection platform.

Surveillance and Virtualization

Synology Surveillance Station can transform the DS923+ into a network video recorder supporting up to 40 IP cameras. The NAS can also provide storage for virtualized environments and supports technologies and platforms including VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix and OpenStack.
