The Poly APN-91 is an electronic hook switch designed to connect compatible Poly wireless headset systems to selected NEC desk phones. It provides remote incoming-call notification, answering and ending through the headset’s call-control button, helping users manage calls without returning to the telephone. Compatibility depends on the exact NEC terminal, phone firmware and communications platform.

Remote Call Answer and End Control

The APN-91 communicates electronically with a supported NEC phone and compatible Poly wireless headset base. When the telephone rings, the headset can provide a remote call alert, allowing the user to press the headset’s call-control button to answer the call and press it again to end the conversation.

No Mechanical Handset Lifter Required

Electronic on-hook and off-hook control removes the need to physically raise and lower the telephone handset. This provides a cleaner alternative to an HL10 mechanical handset lifter on properly supported NEC installations.

Supports Savi and CS500 Platforms

Legacy compatibility guidance includes the Poly Savi 700 Series and CS500/CS500 XD Series. It also identifies the Voyager Legend CS and MDA200 as supported platforms, while current HP documentation lists APN-91 compatibility with selected newer Savi Office and UC systems.

Designed for Selected NEC Phones

Documented NEC compatibility includes selected DSX, DTR, DTH and DTL phones, together with models such as the DT330, DT730 and DT750. Current HP guidance also associates the APN-91 with selected NEC DT400, DT500, DT800 and DT900 families, but the exact terminal must be checked before purchase.

Important DT700 Compatibility Restriction

The original Plantronics EHS guide states that the APN-91 only works with appropriate i-SIP/N-SIP versions of supported DT700 terminals. Standard SIP variants and other terminals sharing a similar model name should not be assumed compatible.

Installation-Specific Components

Some supported NEC DT300 and DT700 installations use the APN-91’s ringer-detection assembly near the telephone speaker, together with the installation flap described in the setup guide. The phone should be disconnected from its network connection during installation and reconnected only after the cable and required components are correctly positioned.

Optional Online Indicator Support

The APN-91 documentation references support for a compatible optional Plantronics Online Indicator. Any indicator or associated accessory is sold separately unless expressly included by the seller.
