Poly APC-4 Electronic Hook Switch for Cisco CS Series

The Poly APC-4 is a legacy electronic hook switch designed to connect selected Plantronics CS wireless headset systems to compatible Cisco Unified IP phones. It enables remote incoming-call notification, answering and ending through the headset, helping users manage supported desk-phone calls without returning to the telephone. The electronic connection also removes the need for a mechanical handset lifter on correctly configured systems.

Remote Call Control

The APC-4 communicates electronically with a supported Cisco phone and compatible CS wireless headset base. When correctly installed and configured, users can answer an incoming call or end an active call through the headset’s call-control button.

Incoming-Call Notification

Supported headset systems can receive a remote ring indication from the connected Cisco phone. This helps users respond to calls while moving within the operating range of their wireless headset system.

No Mechanical Handset Lifter Required

The electronic hook-switch connection controls the supported phone’s on-hook and off-hook states without physically raising its handset. This provides a cleaner alternative to a mechanical HL10 handset lifter.

Designed for Legacy CS Wireless Systems

The APC-4 was developed for earlier Plantronics CS wireless systems, including the CS50, CS55, CS70, CS70N, CS351N and CS361N. It should not be assumed compatible with newer CS500 or Savi systems, which use different electronic hook-switch cables.

Compatible Cisco Unified IP Phones

Manufacturer documentation identifies the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7942G, 7945G, 7962G, 7965G and 7975G as supported models. The phone’s Wireless Headset Hookswitch Control function must be enabled for electronic call control to operate.

Installation Considerations

The APC-4 connects to the appropriate headset and auxiliary interfaces on the supported Cisco phone. Where a compatible Cisco expansion module or sidecar occupies the auxiliary connection, an additional extension adapter such as the legacy 85638-01 may be required and is not included unless specifically stated.
