The Milesight GS601 is a LoRaWAN vape detector designed to identify vaping and smoking events in indoor spaces such as classrooms, restrooms, stairwells and apartments. Multi-Sensor Vape Detection
The GS601 combines multiple sensing technologies to identify environmental changes associated with vaping and smoking. Its laser-scattering Vape Index sensor operates across a 0 to 100 range, while additional particulate sensors measure PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations. TVOC, temperature and humidity measurements provide further environmental information to support monitoring and event detection.
Designed to Reduce Environmental Interference
Indoor vape detectors can encounter environmental conditions that resemble vaping events. Milesight equips the GS601 with anti-water-vapour disturbance functionality and support for identifying other gas interference. Interference information can be reported by the device, helping provide additional context when monitoring environments such as restrooms and other shared indoor spaces.
Local and Remote Alerts
When monitored conditions reach configured thresholds, the GS601 can activate its integrated status/alarm indicator and 70 dB buzzer while reporting event information through LoRaWAN. Buzzer hibernation can be configured to help prevent unwanted audible alarms during installation or maintenance. A built-in vibration sensor also provides tamper detection for identifying potential vandalism or interference with the installed device.
LoRaWAN Management and Integration
The GS601 operates as a LoRaWAN Class C device with OTAA and ABP activation support, providing continuous availability for compatible downlink communication. Local configuration is available through NFC using the Milesight mobile application, while remote configuration can be performed through LoRaWAN downlinks. The device also supports threshold alarms, calibration and Firmware Update Over the Air functionality and is compatible with the Milesight Development Platform.
