15-Metre Active Optical USB-C Connection

The SCFC-3420 uses active optical technology to extend USB-C data and video connectivity over a much greater distance than a typical passive USB-C cable. At 15 metres, it is suitable for installations where the computer, media source or control equipment must be positioned well away from a compatible display, docking solution or receiving device.

This makes the cable particularly useful for boardrooms, training rooms, classrooms, digital-signage systems, control rooms and professional AV installations.

USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 Performance

The cable supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 data transfer at speeds up to 10Gbps when operating in the compatible two-lane DisplayPort configuration. This provides high-bandwidth connectivity for supported USB-C peripherals, docking solutions and other professional equipment over the full 15-metre cable length.

Adaptive DisplayPort Alt Mode

The SCFC-3420 dynamically supports two DisplayPort Alt Mode configurations depending on the capabilities and requirements of the connected devices.

Four-lane operation dedicates more USB-C lanes to DisplayPort video and supports DisplayPort 2.1 with USB 2.0 data, while two-lane operation supports DisplayPort 1.4 together with USB 3.2 data at up to 10Gbps.

Up to 8K Video Support

In four-lane DisplayPort mode, the cable provides video bandwidth of up to 40Gbps and supports resolutions up to 8K at 30Hz without Display Stream Compression.

With compatible source and display equipment supporting DSC, video up to 8K at 60Hz HDR can be transmitted. Actual supported resolution, refresh rate and HDR capability depend on the connected source, receiving device and their DisplayPort Alt Mode capabilities.

High-Refresh-Rate 4K

When operating in two-lane DisplayPort 1.4 mode, the cable can support up to 4K at 60Hz without DSC while maintaining USB 3.2 data connectivity.

With compatible DSC-capable equipment, the connection can support up to 4K at 120Hz HDR, making it suitable for demanding display, presentation and professional AV environments.

Up to 40W USB Power Delivery

The 15-metre SCFC-3420 supports USB Power Delivery up to 40W for compatible USB Type-C devices. This allows supported equipment to receive power through the same cable used for video and data transmission.

Actual charging power depends on the USB-C source, receiving device and negotiated USB Power Delivery profile.

Active Optical Construction

High-speed signals are transmitted using multimode optical fibre, enabling the cable to maintain substantial video and data bandwidth across its 15-metre length.

Optical transmission also helps reduce susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and radio-frequency interference, making the cable suitable for environments containing power equipment, network infrastructure or other potential sources of electrical interference.

Directional Source-to-Display Design

The SCFC-3420 is a unidirectional cable. One USB Type-C connector is marked Source and must be connected to the transmitting host device, while the connector marked Display connects to the receiving device.

The cable should therefore be installed in the correct orientation before routing it through walls, conduits or other permanent installation spaces.

Reinforced Cable Construction

The cable uses a flexible TPE outer jacket with an approximate outside diameter of 6.5 mm. Internal Kevlar reinforcement provides additional mechanical support, while zinc-alloy connector housings protect the active electronics located within each USB Type-C end.

The design supports a minimum dynamic bend radius of 20 mm and a minimum static bend radius of 10 mm, allowing the cable to be routed through suitable installation spaces while protecting the internal fibre structure.

Designed for Professional AV Installations

The combination of 15-metre reach, high-speed USB connectivity, DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery makes the cable suitable for conference rooms, digital signage, educational environments, control rooms and other professional installations where source equipment needs to be located away from the display.

Plug-and-Play Operation

No dedicated software driver is required for normal cable operation. Compatible USB-C equipment automatically negotiates the available USB, DisplayPort and Power Delivery functions when connected.

All advertised video resolutions, data rates and Power Delivery functions require compatible equipment at both ends of the cable.

Thunderbolt Compatibility Note

The SCFC-3420 can operate in USB mode through compatible Thunderbolt ports that support the required USB and DisplayPort Alt Mode functions. However, it is not a native Thunderbolt cable and does not support the Thunderbolt 40Gbps protocol.
