10-Metre Active Optical USB-C Connection

The SCFC-3420 combines USB Type-C connectivity with active optical transmission to carry high-bandwidth signals over a substantially longer distance than a typical passive USB-C cable.

At 10 metres, it is suitable for installations where the source computer, media player or workstation must be positioned some distance away from a compatible display, docking system or other USB-C device.

USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 Performance

The cable supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 operation with a maximum USB data rate of up to 10Gbps when operating in its compatible two-lane DisplayPort configuration.

This provides sufficient bandwidth for high-speed peripherals, compatible docking solutions and other USB-C devices where long-distance data connectivity is required.

Adaptive DisplayPort Alt Mode

The SCFC-3420 uses adaptive lane allocation, allowing compatible equipment to select between two operating configurations depending on the required balance between video and USB bandwidth.

Four-lane operation supports DisplayPort 2.1 video alongside USB 2.0 data, while two-lane operation supports DisplayPort 1.4 together with USB 3.2 data up to 10Gbps.

Up to 8K Video

When operating in four-lane DisplayPort mode, the cable provides video bandwidth of up to 40Gbps and supports resolutions up to 8K at 30Hz without Display Stream Compression.

With compatible equipment supporting DSC, the cable can support up to 8K at 60Hz HDR. Actual resolution and refresh-rate capability depends on the source device, receiving display, DisplayPort Alt Mode support and DSC compatibility.

High-Refresh-Rate 4K Support

In two-lane DisplayPort 1.4 mode, the cable supports up to 4K at 60Hz without DSC while maintaining USB 3.2 data connectivity.

With compatible DSC-capable equipment, resolutions up to 4K at 120Hz HDR are supported, making the cable suitable for high-resolution professional displays and other demanding video applications.

Up to 60W USB Power Delivery

The 10-metre SCFC-3420 supports USB Power Delivery up to 60W, with a maximum supported power profile of 20V at 3A.

This allows compatible USB-C devices to receive power through the same cable used for data and video, reducing the number of separate connections required in supported installations.

Active Optical Construction

High-speed signals are carried using multimode optical fibre rather than relying entirely on traditional copper conductors. This allows the cable to maintain high data and video bandwidth over the extended 10-metre run.

Optical transmission also helps provide resistance to electromagnetic interference and radio-frequency interference, which can be beneficial in commercial AV, IT and electrically noisy installation environments.

Directional Source-to-Display Design

The SCFC-3420 is a unidirectional cable and must therefore be connected in the correct orientation. One connector is clearly marked Source and should be connected to the host device, while the connector marked Display connects to the receiving device.

Reversing the cable may prevent video, data or other functions from operating correctly.

Durable Reinforced Cable Construction

The cable uses a flexible TPE outer jacket with an approximate outer diameter of 6.5 mm. Kevlar filler reinforces the internal construction and provides additional mechanical support during installation and normal use.

Zinc-alloy housings protect the active electronics inside the USB Type-C connector assemblies.

Designed for Professional Installations

The extended 10-metre reach makes the SCFC-3420 suitable for boardrooms, classrooms, digital-signage installations, control rooms, professional AV systems and other environments where equipment cannot be positioned directly alongside the display.

Plug-and-Play Operation

No additional software driver is required for normal cable operation. Compatible source and destination equipment automatically negotiate the supported USB, DisplayPort and Power Delivery functions.

All advertised video, data and charging capabilities require compatible equipment at both ends of the connection.

Thunderbolt Compatibility Note

The cable can operate as a USB cable when connected to compatible Thunderbolt ports that support the required USB and DisplayPort Alt Mode functions. However, the SCFC-3420 is not a Thunderbolt cable and does not support the native Thunderbolt 40Gbps protocol.
