The Dahua TPC-BF5401 is a fixed-focal thermal network bullet camera developed for continuous outdoor monitoring, perimeter protection and heat detection. Its 400 × 300 vanadium oxide thermal detector and 13 mm focus-free lens help security teams monitor medium-distance areas in darkness and visually challenging conditions.

Built-in intelligent functions include tripwire detection, intrusion detection and human or vehicle classification. IP67 environmental protection, PoE and ePoE connectivity make the camera suitable for demanding commercial, industrial and critical-infrastructure surveillance applications.

Thermal Monitoring in Challenging Conditions

Rather than relying on visible light, the camera forms an image from thermal energy within the 8 μm to 14 μm spectral range. This makes it suitable for monitoring dark environments and scenes where conventional visible-light imaging may be affected by shadows or difficult lighting.

The detector offers thermal sensitivity of ≤35 mK at f/1.0, together with digital detail enhancement, automatic or manual thermal gain control and 2D/3D noise reduction. A selection of 18 colour palettes allows operators to choose a thermal display that suits the monitoring environment.

Intelligent Perimeter Protection

Built-in tripwire and intrusion analytics help the camera monitor defined areas and boundaries. Human and vehicle classification can improve alarm relevance by allowing compatible systems to distinguish between these two target categories.

For the 13 mm lens, Dahua specifies reference intelligent perimeter-protection distances of up to 91 m for a human and 273 m for a vehicle. These figures are based on Dahua test conditions and will vary according to the target, atmospheric conditions, installation position and surrounding environment.

Heat Detection and Thermal Tracking

The camera supports heat detection together with cold and hot spot tracking. Dahua specifies a reference heat-detection distance of up to 128 m for a 0.2 m × 0.2 m target under its stated laboratory conditions. This value should be treated as a planning reference rather than a guaranteed distance for every installation.

Flexible Network and System Integration

A 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interface supports standard network connectivity, while PoE and ePoE provide flexible power options. The camera also supports ONVIF, CGI and the Dahua SDK for integration with compatible surveillance platforms.

Additional connections include alarm input and output, audio input and output, RS-485 and a CVBS service output. Local recording can be added using an optional microSD card with a supported capacity of up to 512 GB.
