The Canon Speedlite EL-5 is a powerful shoe-mounted flash designed for event, portrait and creative multi-light photography. Its GN60 output, rapid recycling and broad manual power range give photographers practical control over anything from subtle fill lighting to large group shots. Powerful, Responsive Lighting

With a maximum guide number of 60 metres at ISO 100 and 200 mm, the Speedlite EL-5 provides the reach needed to illuminate distant subjects and larger scenes. Normal flash recycling takes approximately 0.1 to 1.2 seconds with a fully charged LP-EL battery, helping photographers respond quickly when moments unfold.

Precise Creative Control

Manual flash output can be adjusted from full power down to 1/1024 power, giving you fine control over light levels for portraits, detail shots and balanced ambient-light exposures. E-TTL II/E-TTL autoflash, flash exposure compensation, flash exposure bracketing, FE lock, FE memory, high-speed synchronisation and second-curtain synchronisation support a wide range of shooting techniques.

Flexible Bounce and Zoom

The adjustable flash head offers automatic or manual coverage from 24 mm to 200 mm, with coverage for 14 mm lenses available through the built-in wide panel. The head can tilt from 7 degrees down to 120 degrees up and rotate as far as 180 degrees to either side, making it easier to bounce light from nearby walls and ceilings.

Wireless Multi-Flash Photography

Built-in radio transmission allows the EL-5 to operate as either a sender or receiver in compatible wireless lighting arrangements. It supports a transmission range of approximately 30 metres, as many as five groups and up to 15 receiver units, helping photographers build more advanced off-camera lighting setups.

Designed for Demanding Shoots

A weather-resistant construction and advanced heat management support use during extended assignments and in changing conditions. The built-in LED modelling lamp offers five brightness levels, while the five-level battery indicator makes it easier to monitor the remaining charge.

Important Compatibility Information

Direct on-camera use requires a Canon EOS camera equipped with a Multi-Function Shoe and firmware compatible with the Speedlite EL-5. A camera firmware update may be required. The EL-5 cannot be mounted directly on cameras with a standard five-pin hot shoe, and Canon states that it is not compatible with the EOS R5 C.
