FPP (Full Packaged Product)
FPP refers to the retail version of Microsoft software, typically sold in physical boxes at retail shops. These products include a full set of licensing rights and support from Microsoft, as well as physical media like DVDs or USB drives containing the software.
ESD (Electronic Software Distribution)
ESD is a method of providing software through digital downloads instead of physical media. Customers purchase a licence for the software and then download the product directly from Microsoft or an authorised distributor. ESD is more convenient and eco-friendlier, as it does away with the need for physical packaging and shipping.
CDP (Commercial Distribution Product)
CDP refers to Microsoft software licences specifically intended for distribution by commercial resellers. These licences are usually sold in bulk at discounted prices to large businesses, educational institutions, and other organisations. CDPs can be delivered through various methods, such as FPP or ESD.
DSP (Delivery Service Partner)
DSP is a term used to describe a type of Microsoft software licence specifically designed for system builders and smaller Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). These licences are intended for pre-installation on new computers that the system builder or OEM will sell. DSP licences are typically more affordable but may have certain restrictions compared to FPP licences, like being tied to the hardware and having limited support options.
CSP (Cloud Solution Provider)
The Cloud Solution Provider programme is a Microsoft licensing model that allows partners to resell and manage Microsoft cloud services, such as Office 365, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Azure, to their clients. CSPs can provide direct billing, sell combined offers and services, and directly provision, manage, and support Microsoft cloud products. This programme is designed to help partners build a more substantial and recurring revenue stream while delivering an enhanced customer experience.
