The full-frame 61MP Exmor R BSI Sensor built into the Sony RX 1R 3 Digital Camera is designed to match the BIONZ XR processor offers up to 8x greater performance compared to previous generations to achieve greater performance in all systems of the unit. Providing impressive sensitivity and dynamic ranges, and faster handling of a large volume of AI tasks and an intelligent AF alongside image processing. This processing system also reduces rolling shutter and other motion distortions for clean rendering of moving subjects.

AI Processing Unit and Autofocus

The Sony RX1R Mark III features dedicated processing for autofocus that benefits from more intelligent subject tracking and recognition capabilities, along with reliable autofocus for which Sony is known. The real-time Recognition AF works on seven different selectable targets, these include:

• Human: Human mode tracks body and head positions to produce accurate portraits. Thanks to the human pose estimation, the Real-Time Eye AF has been improved by about 60%.
• Animal, Bird, and Animal/Bird: By recognising animal types, this mode is about 40% more accurate than before, with the ability to recognise eyes, it can better focus on the head and body.
• Insect: Insect recognition offers even finer performance with the ability to detect the head or entire body of insect.
• Car/Train and Aeroplane: In this mode, the camera can detect the front of a train or the nose of an aeroplane, alternatively, it can detect the entire fast-moving subject.

Advanced Fast Hybrid AF

The Hybrid AF system covers 79% of the full-frame image area, while the APS-C cropped area covers 100% of the area. Incorporating a dense 693 phase-detection point grid for quick and precise focusing in almost any lighting scenario, with sensitivity down as low as -4EV. This system is available in all recording modes and benefits both video and still applications.Full-Time DMF (Direct Manual Focus) makes it possible to use the focus ring for manual focus at any time.

Accurate Exposure and Colour

Especially accurate metering and white balance is possible thanks to AI-powered algorithms, like Human Pose Estimation, to detect skin areas for more accurate balance exposures when shooting portraits. This AE method is approximately 20% more reliable, even in backlit or direct sunlight situations, or when the subject is not directly facing the camera. Deep learning technology, along with external visible light and IR sensors, also contributes to more accurate colour reproduction and auto white balance processing.

Creative Looks

The f/2 maximum aperture makes it easy to operate in a variety of lighting conditions, while also offering extensive control over depth of field.The optical design in the lens includes a series of aspherical elements to produce images with a high level of sharpness and accuracy. A nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth bokeh quality.
