HPE Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 Kit 745823-B21
The TPM is a security component which enhances security capabilities for the server if it is running the HPE-UX operating system. The TPM is a security chip that is unique to the server. It performs key security processes independent of other hardware components. It creates and stores additional encryption keys from the root key of the system. The encryption keys created by the TPM encapsulate system application encryption keys to provide an additional layer of security for sensitive system data.
These HP Trusted Platform Modules provide secure device identity with certificate private keys generated and protected by the TPM.
Additionally, a TPM can create, use and store encryption keys. It automatically protects drive lock password, stored passwords, and certificate private keys. Keys are sealed to the master encryption key stored in the TPM and only accessible through the TPM.
The TPM automatically pairs with the server at installation. Once installed, the server and the TPM are sealed and the server owns the TPM. The TPM may not be moved to another device without losing its ownership from the original server. If moved and ownership is transferred to a new server, the data on the original serverwill be cryptographically erased.
The TPM prevents the server from starting if the TPM is missing. If the TPM is removed from the server, a front control panel error message will appear to indicate that the TPM is missing.
If the Stop Using TPM process is performed, firmware will be reinstalled when the serveris restarted. All other installed applications or solutions will need to be reloaded and the server re-configured.
